Christian Initiation

The St. Joseph Catholic Church Office of Evangelization, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Bishop, and the Pastor, is committed to affirming and assisting our parish community in forming Disciples.

We will provide opportunities for the parish community to encounter God’s love through a relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.
 

Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil,  thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.

The Main Stages of Christian Initiation are:

• Period of Evangelization and Precatechumenate
• Period of the Catechumenate
• Period of the Post-Baptismal Catechesis
• Period of Purification and Enlightenment
